| I'm a bit late on this. One of my favorite artists died on August 1...Pauline Baynes. She illustrated the original Chronicles of Narnia books. Tolkien also wanted her to illustrate the Lord of the Rings, but that did not work out (read about that, and more about Baynes HERE). Baynes had a deceptively simple and definitely magical style that worked perfectly for the Chronicles of Narnia. I highly recommend checking out her work, especially the color work she did for Narnia, and the Middle-Earth and Narnian maps she created. Fantastic stuff. RIP Pauline Baynes...she has met Aslan!
